I watched handheld computers progress from tech-candy that sales reps and VPs showed off at meetings to a device that was ready for integration with K-12 students. Apple’s Newton and Palm’s own Palm-Pilot were surely front-runners. That’s why the Tech2Go blog includes a Handheld Computing category.
Today the tools are more than ready for our 21st century learners. One company that transformed the way I think about handheld computing is GoKnow. They are producing great software applications to get to higher levels of thinking and learning and help teachers’ manage the workflow of the handheld-centric classroom.
Palm offers an educational certification that is worth considering. I became a Palm Educational Training Coordinator for my district and the training and subsequent recertification events have been excellent.
